"40 x 40" Update - Lesson Learned, Dream Bigger

I didn't receive 40 gift cards by my 40th birthday yesterday.  I received SEVENTY FIVE gift cards worth over $1,800 to distribute to cancer patients!


Since launching CCX on June 1, we have collected over $2,400 and sent $600 worth of gift cards to 6 cancer patients.


As our friend Jeff Hawkins said, "People are good."

"40 x 40" Update

As of right this very instant, I have received 30 gift cards this week after offering my "40 cards by the time I turn 40 Friday" challenge. 


Because of the overwhelming generosity of friends and of people I have never met, tomorrow I will mail out gifts to:

• A woman in Texas who had surgery last week for ovarian cancer.

• A local woman who has faced both breast and ovarian cancer in the last 2 years.

• A 34 year old veterinarian technician from Fairhope, Alabama undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. She hopes one day to get married and have children.

• A husband and father of 2 with colon cancer who is having regular chemo treatments in hopes of shrinking tumors before surgery.

• A single mom of 3 who is working full-time during chemo for ovarian cancer.

• A family whose 4 year old daughter is being treated away from their hometown at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for brain cancer.

Progress Report

Hello all,

I hope you have had a chance to learn what we are doing to brighten the day of cancer patients. The process has begun to become an official non-profit in the State of Tennessee. Donations of gift cards have started coming in and I am very close to being able to make my first gifts through The Cancer Card Xchange. Stay tuned for more details about these recipients in the next few weeks.
