Gratitude

Since launching June 1, we have collected hundreds of gift cards (We are halfway to our goal of 501 x 501c3.) and thousands of dollars in donations. Most importantly, we have made gifts to 112 people with cancer. One hundred and twelve people from all over the country dealing with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation. One hundred and twelve people of all ages hopefully were given a bright spot to remember in their journey.

Here is what a few of them had to say:

Thank you for what you do! It was a HUGE blessing to receive the Christmas card and gift cards/certificates from you right before Christmas! Thank you to all who donate, whether time or money, to making the lives of those struggling with cancer a bit brighter!  - Andi Swatts, CCX recipient, fighting breast cancer for a second time at age 43
The work you do is amazing. You bring sunshine to cancer patients who are in desperate need for some happiness. Words cannot express how it makes someone feel when they go to the mailbox and pull out something from The Cancer Card Xchange.  - Carla Burke, CCX recipient
Even though you have not met us, you share our burden. Even while you have not seen us, you show that you care. Even while there are miles between us, we feel you with us. God bless you for this. - Parent of CCX recipient
Thank you so very much for sending my family such generous gift cards. My father passed away this morning and my stepmom is dealing with so many things. One thing she doesn't need to worry about is food or extra money.  - Lissa Stoddard, daughter of CCX recipient
Your timing is perfect. The cards made my day. It couldn't have come at a better moment.  - CCX recipient
We are ever so grateful for your help. You have no idea how much we needed it. God bless you.  - CCX recipient
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful surprise awaiting me when I got home from the hospital. Your program is truly a blessing. When I am back on my feet and on the road to recovery, I want to help any way I can. Thank you again so very, very much.  - CCX recipient
"Thank you" to everyone who supports what we are doing to brighten the day of people with cancer. Please continue to help us spread the word about CCX. Looking forward to what 2012 has in store.

501 x 501c3 Campaign Update

To mark the milestone of applying for 501c3 nonprofit status, we launched the "501 x 501c3"campaign on November 1. Our goal is to collect 501 gift cards by the time our 501c3 status is granted.

It is with overwhelming gratitude I can report that we are nearly halfway to that goal already. Several groups have collected gift cards at holiday parties, past CCX recipients have sent in gift cards and many people have given gift card and cash donations in honor of loved ones.

We still have time to reach our goal before our 501c3 status is approved by the IRS. So tell your friends, ask your church group, find out if your office or children's school is looking for a community service project. Gift card donations can also still be made in honor of loved ones as holiday gifts, and CCX will gladly send acknowledgement cards.

Since launching in June, gifts have been made to 106 people all over the country. Our hope is, through this effort, we will increase the inventory of gift cards on hand so that we can focus more on giving to people dealing with cancer in 2012.
