2011 – 2021

Ten years ago I asked for gift cards for my 40th birthday so I could send them to people facing cancer, simply to brighten their day.

I collected $1,800 worth and The Cancer Card Xchange began.

You may have heard my cancer story. If not, you can read about it HERE or HERE. The short version: While I was pregnant with our 4th son in 2007, I was diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma. I was referred to MD Anderson in Houston, TX. On our first visit there, dear friends arranged for a gift card to be waiting at a local Mexican restaurant. A simple gesture that, for a couple of hours, took our minds off what we were facing and planted the seed for The Cancer Card Xchange.

In what seems like a blink of an eye, here we are ten years later. I am healthy with 4 nearly grown sons. And The Cancer Card Xchange is still sending gift cards to people who are facing cancer, simply to brighten their day – to nearly 5,000 people and close to $500,000 in gift cards.

All because of one simple gesture 14 years ago.

When it’s a better time for us to host a fundraising celebration event, we will. Until then, please give in honor of someone you know who is facing cancer. Give in memory of someone who faced cancer. Or simply give to brighten someone’s day.

The Cancer Card Xchange depends 100% on donations to continue our mission.

Mail donations or gift cards to PO Box 1004 Collierville, TN 38027.
